Inspiration

In The World

By Connie Arnold

Reportedly, a friend once said to Mark Twain, “I am worried. The world is coming to an end.”

Twain’s reply was, “Don’t worry. We can get along without it.”

We can. Can’t we? Sin ravages the world, bringing temptation, discouragement, death.

Lop it off! World, begone! Away!

Jesus certainly did not need the world; but then, Jesus does not need us. He knew that this world would not be a friendly, comfortable place for the Christians. And He prayed for us.

“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of this world, even as I am not of it, (John 17:15-16 NIV).

If we had not allowed our Lord to save us through His sacrifice on the cross, we would be part of the world we can do without. We must separate the sin from the sinner; hate the one and love the other. This is to be like Jesus.

Thursday, May 5, is the 2022 National Day of Prayer. There is a National Day of Prayer Broadcast set to air at 8 p.m. ET from Washington D.C., featuring Christian leaders in our country. There are no political, economic, or medical solutions that are able to bring answers to the problems facing us. Our difficulties are spiritual problems that are only overcome by the supernatural power offered by God.

When Israel turned their backs on God, their enemies overcame them, bringing hardships that drove them again to repentance on their knees. Likewise, solutions to our problems can be found from a bowed position. Through our prayers the Holy Spirit can bring conviction to people who are bent on unholy agendas, and the answers to these prayers can bring spiritual breakthroughs in our nation.

God said, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,” (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV).

As America joins corporately on May 5 to pray and give thanks for our freedom, may each member in all our churches seek for revival in their own hearts and lives. If spiritual renewal starts in each individual heart, it has the potential to spread throughout our land.

Let us join in prayer for God’s mercy, restoration, and guidance over our nation.
