Session 5
Chapter 10. Sent
Fellow believers, here is my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel:
- That they will be saved; I have seen that they sincerely desire
- To know God, but they do not know what it means to live right
- Before God, as they are trying to live without God; They have
- Not brought themselves into a relationship with Him; Christ
- Has fulfilled the law in order that everyone who believes can
- Live rightly in God; Moses wrote that the people who try to
- Follow the law fully, must commit their whole life to the law;
- But the life of faith says, do not try to bring Christ down from
- Heaven, or bring Him up from the dead; What it says is that
- You have the word within you–in your mouth and in your
- Heart, and this is the word of faith that we preach, that if you
- Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your
- Heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be
- Saved; For with the heart, one believes and is made right with
- God, and then you can declare your salvation;
- The Scripture says everyone who believes in Him will not be
- Shamed, and this applies for both Jews and Greeks, for the
- Lord will bless everyone who seeks to know Him;
- Everyone who seeks the Lord shall be saved;
- How would it be possible for those who do not believe in Him
- Find salvation in Him? Or, how could they believe if they have
- Never heard of Him? And how could they hear of Him unless
- There is a preacher? And how could there be a preacher unless
- One is sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of
- Those who bring glad tidings of good things!’
- But not everyone has obeyed the gospel, for Isaiah says: ‘Lord,
- Who has believed our report?’ Hearing the word of God brings
- Faith; But, I ask, ‘Have they not heard?’ Yes, they have heard:
- The word has gone out all over the world;
- Then I ask, ‘How could Israel not know?’ Moses has said:
- ‘I will cause you to be jealous of a people who are not even a
- Nation,’ And Isaiah wrote: ‘I was found by people who never
- Looked for me.’ But to Israel he says: ‘For a long time I have
- Extended My hands to you, but you have been disobedient and
- Contrary.’
Chapter 11. Riches
This is what I would say to the question: Has God given up on His people?
- Definitely not! For I also am an Israelite, descended from
- Abraham from the tribe of Benjamin; God has not given up on
- His people whom He has always known;
- Have you heard of Elijah, how he spoke to God against Israel,
- Telling God how Israel had killed all the prophets, torn down
- His altars, and Elijah was the only one left, and they were
- Intending to kill him; But God told Elijah that He had marked
- For Himself seven thousand men who have not worshipped
- Baal; And, to this day, there is a remnant according to the grace
- Of God; So, if the remnant remains by grace, then it is no
- Longer of works, otherwise, grace would not be grace;
- Those of Israel whom God has chosen have obtained grace,
- But the rest have become hardened; To this very day, God has
- Made them sleepy, and they cannot hear or see, just as it is
- Written; And David wrote: ‘Let their table become a snare and
- A trap, a stumbling block, and let their eyes be dark and they
- Will always be bent over;’ I say then, shall they stumble and
- Fall? Definitely not! But through their failure, salvation has
- Come to the Gentiles; If their failure brings blessings to the
- World, to the Gentiles, then much more will they be filled;
- I am speaking to you, Gentiles, for I have been called to
- Minister to you; But my hope is that as I minister to you, some
- Of my own people will be saved; If their rejection will bring
- Reconciliation to the world, then their acceptance will then
- Lead from death into life; If the root is holy, so are the
- Branches; And if some branches are broken off, then you, being
- Like a wild olive tree, are grafted in among them, you will
- Enjoy the blessings of the root; But do not speak against the
- Branches, but remember that the branches do not support the
- Root, as it is the root that supports the branches; Then, you can
- Say that ‘branches were broken off that I might be grafted in;’
- Because of their unbelief, they were broken off, but you live by
- Faith; However, do not be proud, but be fearful, since God may
- Deal with you as He did the branches he broke off;
- Remember that while God is good, He is also demanding:
- He was demanding for those who failed, and He will be good
- Toward you if you continue in the faith; But if you do not, He
- Will break you off as He did those who failed; Likewise, He can
- Restore those who have fallen, and graft them back in with the
- Branches as when they believed; If you were a branch from a
- Wild olive tree, and were grafted into a good olive tree, how
- Much more will these, who are of the natural branches, be
- Grafted back into their own olive tree; Now, I want you
- Gentiles to understand how this mystery came about lest you
- Should get an elevated opinion of yourselves: Israel had become
- Hardened against God, so He allowed His blessing to come to
- You, the Gentiles; Israel will be saved, for as it is written:
- ‘The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and clear the evil from
- Jacob, this I promise to them when I remove their sins;’
- You may question the Jews over some things of the gospel,
- But they are still God’s chosen people, and that will never
- Change; You were once away from God, but you have received
- His mercy as they had turned away from Him; So, now, these
- Who had been disobedient have received God’s mercy the same
- As has been shown to you; For God has shown His mercy to all
- Whom He had condemned by their disobedience;
- Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of
- God! We can never know His ways and how He makes His
- Decisions! ‘For who has known the mind of the Lord?’
- For all things have come by and from Him, to whom be all
- Praise. Amen.
