Daniel – Session 4 of 4

Chapter 10. Understanding

Daniel is seeing visions of the future because of his gift of understanding:

  • He sees another vision in the third year of Persian King Cyrus;
  • And he understands the message of this vision;
  • Daniel has been mourning for three weeks prior to the vision;
  • He has been fasting and avoiding ointments;
  • On this day he is with some men beside the Tigris River;
  • He looks up and sees a man dressed in linen with a gold belt;
  • His face glows like lightning, his eyes like fire, very loud voice;
  • The men with Daniel are so afraid they run and hide;
  • Daniel is very weak, falls down, but he hears the voice;
  • The man says Daniel has understanding, tells him to stand up;
  • Says he is going to tell Daniel about the future for his people;
  • After listening for a while, Daniel is overcome, cannot speak;
  • Then, a figure who looks like a man touches Daniel;
  • Daniel’s strength comes back; the man says “Be strong;”
  • He tells Daniel he knows why he came to him;
  • Now he must go fight the king of Persia;
  • After that he will fight the king of Greece;
  • Before that he will tell Daniel what’s in the Book of Truth.

Chapter 11. Truth

Daniel offers his total support for a new king, Darius the Mede:

  • The man resumes talking to Daniel, he will tell him the Truth;
  • Four kings will come out of Persia, the fourth very wealthy;
  • With his great wealth he will challenge Greece;
  • Another powerful king will take over, but he will be broken;
  • Following this, the king of the South shall become strong;
  • Later, the daughter of the South’s king goes to the North;
  • She attempts to make an agreement with that king;
  • But she loses her authority, and she is handed over;
  • Later, one from her family will build an army, invade the North;
  • He will defeat them and take men and valuables to Egypt;
  • Eventually, the North will attack and prevail over the South;
  • The leader of the North will use cunning and intrigue;
  • He will be a vile leader, but give the plunder to the people;
  • Both the kings, the North and South, are intent on doing evil;
  • The king of the North will defile the holy places, do damage;
  • He will exalt himself, blaspheme against the true God;
  • The king of the South will attempt to defeat the North;
  • But the king of the North will prevail, rule over many nations;
  • Eventually, the king of the North will fall; and be all alone.

Chapter 12. Delivered

Michael is the great prince who is in charge of protecting God’s people:

  • There is coming a time of serious trouble, like never before;
  • Then, everyone whose name is in the book will be delivered;
  • The dead will come back to life, some to everlasting life,
  • Some will come back for everlasting shame and contempt;
  • But Daniel is told to seal up the book until the end time;
  • Many people will be running around gaining more knowledge;
  • Daniel sees two men standing on either side of the river;
  • One of these men asks the man in the linen garment a question:
  • “How long will it be until all this is fulfilled?”;
  • With both hands raised, he says: “a time, times, and half a time”;
  • “When the holy people have become completely broken”;
  • Daniel asks “What will be the end of all this?”
  • The man tells Daniel the words are sealed until the end of time;
  • Good people will continue to be good, the evil will be evil;
  • When the daily sacrifice is ended there will be 1,290 days;
  • The one who waits for 1,335 days will be blessed;
  • Daniel is told to continue on for the rest of his life;
  • After his death, he will come back to receive his inheritance.
